Bold As Love - A Blogging Endeavor

So basically, I’d like to get back in the habit of writing…you know, for non academic purposes. More than 140 characters at a time. I don’t know that it will be terribly interesting, but hey, we’re going to have a good time anyway!

I suppose the title is a good place to start - Bold As Love.

This is a phrase that I carry with me everyday, and it’s very dear to me (which is probably why I have these words permanently inked on my right shoulder blade). It’s the title of a Jimi Hendrix song, which was covered on John Mayer’s Continuum album. It’s about color. It’s about love (obviously). It’s about emotion. The ink is there to remind me to live my life full of love - for the things I do, for the people around me, and most importantly for myself. Long story short, I went through a nasty break up in college that left me completely devastated in a lot of ways. It took a very long time to move forward from all the things it affected. The words represent my transition from a very unhappy person to someone that’s about colors, and love, and good grooves (among other things).

So there’s that little nugget about me. It reminds me that life is pretty rockin’ most of the time.

My head is in a place where I’m working to make things happen. I’m applying to start graduate school this year, which is terrifying, and I have a million reasons not to do it, but I have always had this part of me that wants to do…more. I’ve lost about 40 pounds (so far) since last spring. Those endeavors I’ll save to write about another time.

This is just a place for me to think and build my fingerprint on this digital space…it’s a lot fancier than when I had a Xanga account back in high school.

But most importantly, it’s a distraction from doing GRE practice tests :)
